BACKGROUND: Ischemic stroke causes brain injury by blocking blood flow to the brain. Current treatments are limited, and dental pulp stem cells may offer a new regenerative treatment approach.
METHODS: The authors reviewed basic research, therapeutic mechanisms, clinical trials, and future prospects for dental pulp stem cell therapy in ischemic stroke.
RESULTS: Studies showed that dental pulp stem cells may support brain recovery through anti-inflammatory effects, neuroprotection, angiogenesis, and tissue repair.
CONCLUSIONS: This review showed that dental pulp stem cells may be a promising therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke. Future studies may help translate these findings into clinical treatments.
